Non Wonton Soup


A NON wonton wonton Soup!? What can I say, summer is near and a girl has got to do what it takes to be swimsuit ready and if that means I have to skip the wonton for a few months, so be it 😉 Actually, I find that the wonton wrapper takes away from the flavor of that little pork pillow inside. Why spend so much time adding Fantastic flavor to it if your going to cover it up? Once again this soup has sooo much Nutrition in it your body will be PLEASED! 🙂

Oh No! The song Everytime You Go Away by Paul Young just came on, and trust me, if someone you love is away from you DON”T listen to this song LOL. I am having the last glass of my Perrier Jouet Grand Brut wishing there was more. Hey, it makes me sing a little.

So if you are interested in that summertime body or just to feel extraordinary I will tell you

What You Will Need:

1 Pound Ground Pork

1 Bunch of Green Onions, minced

4 Cloves of Garlic, Minced

2 Tbsp Cornstarch

3 Tbsp Fresh Ginger, minced

Salt and Pepper (To your taste)

12 Cups Chicken Stock (Homemade if you can)

3 Small Baby Bok Choy, chopped

2 Cans Bamboo Shoots, rinsed then cut into matchstick pieces

1 Small Purple Cabbage, cored and chopped

1 Pound Shiitake Mushrooms, sliced

4 Slices of Fresh Ginger

Salt and Pepper to taste

So If you can pull yourself away from daydreaming..

Prep your Mis en Place 🙂


In a large pot on the stove, add in the chicken stock and 4 slices of ginger. The ginger is not meant to be eaten, it’s just there to add more punch to the broth. Bring to a boil then lower to a simmer.


Next chop up the cabbage


Slice up the baby bok choy.


Cut up the bamboo into matchstick sizes, and set them all aside along with the mushrooms.


In a glass bowl, add in the pork, green onion, garlic, minced ginger, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Mix well.


Form the pork mixture into small meatballs.


Add the pork balls to the broth that is simmering. Simmer for 15 minutes.


Next add in all the fresh veggies.


Simmer for another 10 minutes.

Tell me that this soup does not look yummy or nutritious. All of those bright assortment of colors means nothing but good things to come for your health. I am So Pleased!

Makes 12 servings:

177 Cals, 6.4 G fat,15 G carb, 2.8 G fiber, 18.9 G pro, 1.8 G sugar

Extra: This is one of those soups that’s great to have on hand for when you suddenly get hungry and want to stay on track.
