Chicken Curry with Golden Raisin Apple Chutney


This is such an amazing dish!!! It took me awhile to get it just right because Curry dishes call for a lot of sugar and I make mine with NONE!! I was pleased to get the look cooks always watch for when they are feeding their friends and family, you know the one where their eyes get really wide and they say “WOW!”

What You Will Need:

1 Large White Onion, sliced thin

5 Cloves of Garlic, minced

2 Tbsp Spicy Curry powder

2 1/4 C Chicken Stock (Homemade if you can)

1 C Milk

1 C Heavy Cream

Meat from 1 Roasted Chicken, skin removed and chopped

Salt and Pepper to taste

OPTIONAL White Rice cooked according to directions


3 Apples, peeled and diced (I used honey crisp apples)

1/2 C Dried Currants

1 C Golden Raisins

Juice from 1 Orange

1 Yellow onion, sliced thin

1 C Balsamic Vinegar

1 tsp White Pepper or black


Pre heat your oven to 380. Remove the innards and sprinkle the chicken with salt and pepper. Cook in a glass baking dish for 45 minutes then remove the skin and discard. Peel the meat and chop it up.

Set up your Mis en Place 🙂 Pour a glass of wine (a Fume is perfect with this) and crank up the music!



In a medium-sized pot on the stove, add the apples, yellow onions, raisins, currants, white pepper, and balsamic vinegar.

Bring it to a simmer then lower the heat to medium and add in the orange juice.

Continue to allow the balsamic to reduce stirring frequently.


While that is cooking, in a smaller pot combine the chicken stock, milk, and heavy cream.

Bring to a boil then remove from heat.

In a larger pot add the garlic, white onions and a little bit of chicken stock to prevent the onion from sticking to the bottom.

Cook until the onion becomes translucent.


Add in the curry powder and mix well.


Pour in the warm milk mixture. Bring to a low simmer.


Cook for 5 minutes stirring constantly. You do this so you wont burn the milk.


Add in the chicken and cook for 10 more minutes. YUM!

Pour a serving in a bowl and top with the raisin apple chutney.

*Extra you can make rice or couscous to go with this but it’s not needed.
