What You Will Need
4 Large portabella mushroom caps
4 ounces of part skim mozzarella cheese
1 Small green bell pepper sliced
1 Cup crushed tomatoes
1 Yellow tomato diced
1 link of sausage cooked and sliced
1/4 Cup of red onion sliced
1/2 Cup basil chopped
1 clove of garlic minced
1/2 Tbsp oregano
small pinch of salt
Heat your oven to 375.
Wash and remove stems from the mushroom as well as scrape out the “gills”. (That funny looking brown stuff under the cap.)
Place the mushroom caps on a nonstick cookie sheet and bake for 5 minutes. This helps to remove some of the water from the mushroom.
While that’s baking, mix your crushed tomatoes with the minced garlic, chopped basil, and salt.
Remove mushrooms from oven and flip over.
Add the sauce you just made and began to build your own style of pizza.
1/4 Cup sauce, 1 ounce part skimmed mozzarella cheese, 1/4 sliced sausage, 1/4 the amount of green bell pepper, 1/4 the amount of red onion, and 1/4 the amount of yellow tomatoes.
Place back in the oven and continue to bake for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is golden brown.
